The survey, commissioned by Darwin’s Natural Pet Products and conducted by Talker Research, found that owners need to stop their dogs from eating inappropriate items every three days, with this need being more frequent when dogs are 20-month-old puppies.
Besides bizarre items, some foods can be dangerous to dogs’ health. The Kennel Club warned that foods like chocolate, onions, and garlic can cause serious problems such as poisoning and anemia.
The survey also revealed that 77% of owners worry about their dogs’ health when they ingest something inappropriate, and many are unsure when this happens.

While most owners trust they know what constitutes a healthy diet for their dogs, only 45% admitted to feeding their animals a truly healthy diet. More than half of the respondents expressed interest in providing better nutrition, but 46% consider healthy options expensive, and 32% describe their dogs as picky.
Experts suggest that an ideal dog food should contain quality ingredients, similar to a homemade recipe, to ensure the health and well-being of the animals.
